Chatterbox Review
The launch of the first direct Dialogue Festival saw a week of spoken word and comedy for grown-ups, but there was something for the kids to enjoy too, at the Chatterbox Family Day. This interactive workshop gave parents and kids the chance to celebrate conversation and the spoken word in a fun, creative and engaging way.
Visitors to St Peter's Church were greeted by a host of activities to take part in and enjoy. Children and parents together were taken through their paces in a comedy workshop with comedian Logan Murray who taught them a few simple techniques for delivering the killer punch line. Later, those brave enough took to the big stage to tell their best joke to the audience.
This was followed by nagging parents put in the dock of the 'children's court' where guilty parties were given a soaking as punishment for their crimes. The resident cartoonist Stephen Marchant thrilled the kids throughout the day with hilarious caricatures of everyone who came along.
People's poet laureate John Hegley closed the show with an entertaining performance and delighted the audience of all ages with an alphabet of songs and poems which everyone could sing along to.
