Technobabble Review

The Technobabble night curated by the hilarious Richard Herring started the evening at the beautiful St Peters Church. Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton brought a slice of Los Angeles action to West London as he introduced the new craze in presenting, Pecha Kucha. After a live question and answer session with the celebrity internet sensation, the audience were treated to Pecha Kucha presentations, consisting of 20 slides in 20 seconds, on diverse subjects as dating mishaps, X factor victories and boxing legends in a whirlwind of 6 minutes, 20 seconds.

Later on Josie Long took to the stage in her words "looking like Badly Drawn Boy but without the beard" and treated the audience to hilarious anecdotes about Twitter arguments and angering internet trolls. Richard Herring finished the evening nicely with a stand up gig which had the audience in stitches.

At Under the Westway, the night kicked off with Aisle 16, who delivered a poetic masterclass (and some singing too) with a set centred around video games. Highlights included a song titled 'The girl from Donkey Kong' performed on a ukulele and a revelation that Super Mario might have had a girlfriend called 'Pauline'.

To finish the evening the joyful Josie Long delivered a stand up comedy to a delighted audience. Dressed in her wooly hat, she invited those from Brighton and Surbiton to join her in the front row as her 'guests of honour', they were as proud as punch.

Meanwhile, Folk In A Box, Britain's smallest theatre venue invited one person at a time into watch their one man performance. "The best one and a half minutes of theatre I have ever watched," said one West Londoner.

At the Earl of Portabello, the Festival of the Spoken Nerd took to the stage for an evening of geek cabaret for the fearlessly inquisitive. This sci-curious group made up of Helen Arney; a musical comedian, Matt Parker; a stand-up mathematician and Steve Mould; a guerrilla scientist brought comedy to the world of science with a trip from the beginnings of the World Wide Web to the far distant future of science.

The audience were engrossed throughout the entire show and rolled around with laughter as guest comedian, David Trent introduced 'Hoppipolistic Alexithyma' a condition where a person is unable to portray believable emotion without Hoppipolla by Sigur Ross playing in the background due to the BBC's over use of the theme.
